Backyard Astronomy with Jacob Hundt
This two-session course is intended to introduce beginners to the wonders of the night sky. We will cover the basic conventions of stargazing orientation and coordinates on the celestial sphere, as well as the nightly motions of bodies in the heavens. There will also be an introduction to the use of a backyard telescope to view galaxies, nebulae, and planets, especially the spectacular rings of Saturn. The two Friday evenings have been chosen to coincide with darkest period of the month and should give us a better chance of having at least one night of good stargazing weather.
