Building for the Future: Basic 2×4 Construction for Youth with Robert Schulz

This class will offer aspiring builders hands-on experience in building a small, sturdy shelter, be it a clubhouse, chicken coop, greenhouse, or garden shed. We will cover the aspects of structural framing, which include sills, studs, bracing, window and door framing, headers, top plates, and roof framing. Students will learn the importance of “squaring up a wall” to ensure a sound building. Solar and muscle power will be used for circular saws and hand saws, squares and levels, hammers and drills, nails and screws.
