Blacksmithing: Opening Doors with Robert Schulz
In this class we will create hand-forged strap hinges, appropriate for the home, barn, or outbuilding. Traditional, historic styles will be demonstrated, and students are free to bring designs of their own. Options for the pintel will be discussed and demonstrated, along with the forging skills of bending, tapering, splitting, punching, chiseling, and riveting. Finishes for interior/exterior installations will be covered. If time permits, students can make their own nails and square-headed bolts. This class is appropriate for Beginner and Intermediate Levels.
