Sacred Harp Singing with Annie Grieshop
If you love to sing, then Sacred Harp might be for you! Sacred Harp singing (also known as “shapenote” or “fasola” singing) is one of the foundations of modern American folk, bluegrass, and gospel singing. Starting with a brief history of the music and the notation, participants will learn to read shapenote music and begin singing a cappella in four-part harmony. We will invite experienced singers from other areas to join us, as well. All books and other materials will be provided free for use. Participants are asked to bring a snack to share, if possible. Please visit Fasola.org for more information about the music and to hear samples of singing. Everyone is welcome, for everyone can sing!
