How to register for a class

Registering for a folk school class is easy.

Registration Deadlines:

Why registration deadlines? Throughout the time of the Driftless Folk School class deadlines have existed for registering. It was generally about 1 week prior to the class. However, it was an unspoken, unwritten deadline. The registrar and instructor were the only ones who knew the day of determining if a class would run. At times, classes would cancel due to low enrollment then students would ask to register a few days after it had been canceled. To many, this was a disappointing or frustrating experience.

In order to help this situation we have made registration deadlines available for students to see in the catalog and the website. When instructors initially sign up to teach a class they are asked if the Monday before the class is an acceptable deadline. Some needed more advance notice than 5-6 days and spoke up. Most classes require instructors to purchase materials for students. The materials could be available at a local store or need to be shipped from a specialty business. If you are interested in a class, please check the registration deadline so you do not miss a great opportunity!
