Thanks to John Effland of Rock Opera and Nicholas Tomkins of NS Stoneworks for teaching and leading a great crew of 15+ folks to build a beautiful dry stone retaining wall at the Driftless Folk School these past three days. A fantastic effort by all. Come visit us on October 18th for our fall festival and sit on the beautiful new wall and eat pie.
Why Carve a Spoon?
For the simple elegance
An extension of nurturing through food
To free the spoon as it wants to be alive
Because everything is better when it is handmade
A form of self expression (more…)
Last phase of the cabin: SIDING. All the siding was cut, peeled, and milled on the campus. Two walls were completed in a day, and just three and a half are left to complete. There are still opportunities to be part of finishing this hand-crafted home. The entire cabin has been built by volunteers and all from recycled timber or timber we milled. Thanks to Ken & Michelle Workowski for this amazing gift, Lowell Rheinheimer for the milling, all the volunteers who are now official “tree-skinners,” and Jared Torkelson and Wayne Ott for leading this last phase. If you want to be a part of it, contact us by phone and email and we will add you to the call out list.
