Basket Coiling: Sweet Grass, Pine Needles, and Nettles

Instructor: Linda Conroy

We will begin learning about the materials and preparing them for use in a coiled basket. The milkweed and nettle will be transformed into cordage in order to be coiled and stitched into the basket. We will learn about harvesting and drying pine needles as well as growing sweet grass. The class will culminate in everyone creating their own unique basket to take home! Bring a small pair of sewing scissors, a thimble and reading glasses if needed for small work. All other supplies will be provided. If you have materials you would like to incorporate into your basket please bring them!
