Black Ash Tray Basket

Instructor: Liandra Skenandore

In this three day course students will be immersed in black ash log pounding and black ash weaving to create their own tray basket that can be used in a variety of ways: a table centerpiece, a fruit and vegetable holder, office supplies tray, herb collecting, item displaying---such are a few named uses.

Students will cut, knife scrape, and prepare splint material to create their own woven tray basket and will learn how to continuous weave the basket. Students can also participate in log pounding and splint splitting demonstrations but it is not required.

No prior basket weaving skills are required but some hand and finger strength and dexterity are necessary. Please note that we will be working with a knife as part of the material preparation and basket weaving process.
