"Artist in Resonance" Led Community Singing Session, Songs of Comfort and Healing with Barbara McAfee

  • Old Main Building 321 East Decker Street Viroqua, WI, 54665 United States (map)

Calling ALL voices! You are invited to come and sing with us! Community Singing is accessible to anyone and everyone. All songs are taught call and response (no need to read music or have previous singing experience). They are simple, yet beautiful when sung together. Some songs are rounds, some have multiple simple parts, and some have simple harmonies. This kind of singing is for the sheer joy of being together in community, and there is no performance. Come experience the pleasure of simple connection with others through music.

This community singing session is part of our "Artist in Resonance" series!

Tuesday, February 6: Community Sing
Songs of Comfort and Healing
Led by Barbara McAfee
6:30 - 8:00 pm (6:00 pm to socialize)
Old Main Building: 321 East Decker St., Viroqua, WI

This gathering will focus on singing as healing -- for people facing health challenges, caregivers, and all who walk through difficult times. Barbara will weave stories, songs, and simple practices to bring to this sacred work.

Sliding Scale Fee Guidelines:

Supporter Level Ticket: $20
If you move through the world with financial ease and the means to fulfill many of your wants as well as your needs – you are able to eat out when you want, abundantly meet your needs through employment or can comfortably not work, have access to family wealth, own property, etc. – consider paying at this level, which will help us ensure the long term sustainability of our programs while keeping our offerings accessible to those with access to fewer resources.

Sustainer Level Ticket: $15
If you are able to meet your needs with relative ease while budgeting your educational and entertainment spending – for instance, you are able to take classes and eat out occasionally as long as you are mindful – consider paying at this level, which will help sustain the work of the Folk School at a modest level.

Supported Level Ticket: $10
If you struggle to fund your basic needs and have limited access to resources in your family and community, or if you would not be able to access this offering without a discounted payment option, consider paying at this level. We value your presence and contributions to our community and do not want any economic circumstances to be a barrier to attendance!

Student Ticket: $5

Children 10 and under: Free
