Bike the Yards, Led by Julie Tomaro

  • Viroqua, WI, 54665 United States (map)

Meet our new event, Bike The Yards, the little sibling to Bike The Barns! We will meet in Viroqua for a biking tour of urban gardens around town (cars are welcome to follow). We will visit a small handful of yards within easy biking distance being urban-farmed right here in Viroqua. From hoop houses to orchards, we'll hear from the gardeners themselves about how they tend their yard, prune their trees, use rain water, and plan permanent beds. At each garden stop, there will be an opportunity for a few minutes of hands-on gardening, as a way to get our hands in the soil and to lend a helping hand to our volunteer garden hosts. Come be inspired by these beautiful and productive gardens being nurtured in our neighbors' back yards!

Instructions: Please bring your bike, wear comfortable clothes appropriate for the weather that can get a bit dirty, and bring plenty of water. Helmets are encouraged, and you may wish to bring a snack for the road!

Date: Saturday, July 13
Time: 9:00 AM - 12:30 PM
Ages: 8+
Location: Viroqua, WI
The specific meeting place will be emailed to registered participants closer to the date.

Sliding Scale Course Fee Guidelines

Supporter Level Ticket: $30
If you move through the world with financial ease and the means to fulfill many of your wants as well as your needs – you are able to eat out when you want, abundantly meet your needs through employment or can comfortably not work, have access to family wealth, own property, etc. – consider paying at this level, which will help us ensure the long term sustainability of our programs while keeping our offerings accessible to those with access to fewer resources.

Sustainer Level Ticket: $15
If you are able to meet your needs with relative ease while budgeting your educational and entertainment spending – for instance, you are able to take classes and eat out occasionally as long as you are mindful – consider paying at this level, which will help sustain the work of the Folk School at a modest level.

Supported Level Ticket: $5
If you struggle to fund your basic needs and have limited access to resources in your family and community, or if you would not be able to access this offering without a discounted payment option, consider paying at this level. We value your presence and contributions to our community and do not want any economic circumstances to be a barrier to attendance!
