Birch Bark Boxes

Instructor: Nicholas WazeeGale

Round boxes of birch bark have held foods, tools, medicines, and treasures for thousands of years in northern European lands. Learn the method of making these vessels from quality birch bark and flat dry wood stock with only carving knives, hand saws, and other basic hand tools (we may get the drill out if you don't want to use the gimlet). They are solid, watertight, fun to make, and require only regionally sourced natural materials - a perfect winter project.
