Instructor: Eric Edgin
Coopering is the craft of joining staves to create a vessel. Preceding modern industrial times, farm life and sea travel were made easier with coopered vessels. The craft is still relevant to some industries as well as very relevant to homesteading today. Using a number of specialized handtools, in this class each student will make a wooden bucket with metal bands. Connect to history and partake in the rebirth of an ancient craft.
Students will be sitting at a shaving horse most of the three days and using hand tools the whole time. Some students may wish to bring a cushion or thin work gloves.
